What a Flip Key Is
Flip keys, also called switchblade keys, have a blade that folds into the fob body and springs out when a button is pressed. They are common on many European and domestic vehicles. When the hinge breaks, the blade wears out, or the key is lost, it needs to be replaced and reprogrammed.
The hinge mechanism takes daily wear every time the blade is folded in and out, which is usually the first part to fail, even while the electronics inside the fob still work fine.
Replacing the Shell and Programming the Chip
LockAngeles replaces flip key shells and blades, and programs the transponder chip inside to work with your vehicle's immobilizer system. In many cases we can transfer the existing chip to a new shell to save you cost, which keeps the original programming intact instead of starting from scratch.
